How Far Are You Willing To Go?
📖Acts 21:13 — “Then Paul answered, ‘What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.’” (ESV)
Paul’s words in this moment are bold—but they aren’t reckless. They come from a heart fully surrendered to Jesus. As his friends begged him not to go to Jerusalem, Paul felt their love and concern, yet he also felt the pull of obedience. He wasn’t chasing danger… he was chasing faithfulness.
Paul had already counted the cost. Following Christ wasn’t just something he did when it was comfortable or convenient. He had resolved in his heart: “No matter where obedience leads me, I’m going.”
And that raises a question for us today:
How far are you willing to go?
Are you willing to obey when it’s uncomfortable?
When people don’t understand?
When it costs something—your pride, your plans, your preferences, even your reputation? And in Paul’s case, potentially your life?
Jesus doesn’t call us to easy discipleship; He calls us to faithful discipleship. Sometimes that means stepping into situations we’d rather avoid. Sometimes it means letting go of what feels safe. But every step of obedience widens our trust in Him… and deepens His work in us.
